International Conference on Ethics Across the Curriculum - Oct. 3-5, 2013
The Society for Ethics Across the Curriculum (SEAC) is holding its 15th annual International Conference on Ethics Across the Curriculum at Oregon State University in Corvallis, Oregon, beginning at 10 a.m. Thursday, October 3 and ending at noon Saturday, October 5. Although the theme of the conference highlights issues concerning conscience, character and culture, the Society welcomes any sinject or thematic area that advances the mission of the SEAC to promote ethical inquiry and teach across the curriculum.

The Lessons of the Pentagon Papers - Oct. 16, 2013
The Silha Center for the Study of Media Ethics and Law will host a lecture on Oct. 16 called, "The Lessons of the Pentagon Papers: Has Obama Learned From Them?" The lecture will be given by author James C. Goodale. Goodale recently wrote "Fighting for the Press: the Inside Story of the Pentagon Papers and Other Battles." He is also a leading First Amendment lawyer and was the vice chairman and the general counsel of the New York Times during the Pentagon Papers litigation. Following the lecture, Goodale will be holding a book signing of his new book. The event is free and open to all. It will begin at 7:30 p.m. at the Cowles Auditorium, West Bank of the Twin Cities Campus of the University of Minnesota.

The 3rd Digital Media Conference - Freedom and Unfreedom in the Digital Age - will discuss and debate the challenges and opportunities facing creators, techies, and organizers from the perspective of grassroots movements for social justice and democracy. The event incorporates the 3rd Digital Media Conference and the 12th Grassroots Use of Technology Conference. It is being organized by Massachusetts Global Action, Open Media Boston, and TecsChange/Organizers’ Collaborative. This year’s event will take place at Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts October 25 through October 27, 2013.
National Communication Association 99th Annual Convention - Nov. 21-24, 2013
The National Communication Association (NCA) advances communication as the discipline that studies all forms, modes, media and consequences of communication through humanistic, social scientific and aesthetic inquiry. In November of every year the NCA hosts a convention where communication scholars, professors, students, and professionals gather to connect and share their research.This year’s 99th annual convention will begin on November 21 and end on November 24 in Washington, D.C. Early bird registration deadline is September 18, 2013.
The 23rd Annual Meeting, open to Association members and nonmembers, welcomes persons from various disciplines and professions for discussion of common concerns in practical and professional ethics. The meeting provides an opportunity to meet practitioners, professionals and scholars who share your interests. The Association for Practical and Professional Ethics (APPE) was founded in 1991 to encourage interdisciplinary scholarship and teaching of high quality in practical and professional ethics by educators and practitioners who appreciate the practical-theoretical aspects of their subjects. The Association facilitates communication and joint ventures among centers, schools, colleges, business and nonprofit organizations and individuals concerned with the interdisciplinary study and teaching of practical and professional ethics. This year’s meeting will take place at the Riverfront Hotel in Jacksonville, Florida on February 27 through March 2, 2014.
